Grape Nebbiolo

Vineyards “Il Bricco” in Italian means “peak of the hill”.
From different micro-plots of Nebbiolo indeed in the most-elevated portion of “Bricco di Treiso”, the very first village where Pio Family started in 1974 to acquire vineyards.

Vinification Fermentation and long maceration on the skins in stainless steel tanks. Long ageing in big barrels of French and Eastern Europe oak for nearly 24 months and for a small amount in French oak barriques. Long bottle ageing before release to increase drinkability.

Produced for the first time by Pio Family with 1990 vintage to give voice to the particular expression of “Bricco di Treiso”, characterized by fresher and windier microclimate and steeper slopes with clay and compact marns in the soil. Powerful and structured tannins, intense and spicy fruit with a remarkable concentration, well balanced by a nice acidity. Extremely long ageing potential.
Produced in very limited quantity every year, since 1990.
